A focus for me was the absence of the sc same-finger-bigram (sfb), that is often present in layouts optimized for english only. This bigram is decently common in german. Otherwise, I kept vim usage in mind, since a lot of layouts without the sc sfb have sfbs such as cw and cy which is less than ideal for vim in my opinion.
